san diego progressive fitness testimonial

I just wanted to say that the training and attention I have received at Progressive fitness has been outstanding. Brad’s one on one attention to my special needs has been instrumental to my recovery from rotator cuff surgery. Brad continuously pushed me to stretch my boundaries but was always safe and we worked on specific problem areas until the problem(s) went away. I’m almost 100% and beyond where I was before I had my shoulder surgery.Along with chronic lower back problems, I’ve had my challenges but I have made tremendous progress and feel so much better and stronger than when I started. Thank you Progressive fitness!

"I feel so lucky to have found Jen Opaka and Progressive Fitness several years ago. She started me out with several other women in my age group who were interested in working hard to achieve the maximum strength and agility we could handle; while being aware of our limitations. Yes, we are all over 50....well some of us are over 60, but I'm not saying who. Jennifer introduced us to [trainer] Moe Dorn who is a hard taskmaster and also extremely well educated in the human musculature. Moe is a wizard at explaining to us the reasons behind every exercise that we do. He is talented at seeing our strengths and weaknesses and helping us to work at our individual levels. He is tirelessly upbeat and somehow inspires us to work to our limits, and yet [each week] come back for more."

"My husband is also using the expertise of Moe and Jennifer to help him to maintain his strength and balance as he deals with the signs of Alzheimer's Disease. He meets individually with Moe twice a week and there he gets encouragement, mental exercise, a work-out and quality interaction time. He always comes home feeling better and more positive."

We all intend to work out on our own, and a few actually do, but the majority of us need a routine. I found Progressive Fitness, and my trainer Brad, to be the perfect solution. The Gravity Training System is a natural force workout so I don't feel like i'm going to injure myself. It's also good to have a trained eye watching over my working so I keep everything in alignment. Brad makes the workout enjoyable and it is hard work, but the kind of hard work I feel good about. I'm stronger now, but more importantly, i'm healthier. Thanks Brad....

I started going to Progressive Fitness several months ago. I have always been physically active but wanted to increase my strength. In class with Brad as the trainer I am pushed harder then I would push myself. That gives me enjoyment and results....

Progressive Fitness is the best thing that I have done in a long time. I have paid for memberships to gyms and never gone. I have paid for memberships to the YMCA and never gone. I go to Progressive Fitness as much as I can. At Progressive Fitness I get the personalized training I need to stay on a workout schedule and stay motivated. I feel stronger with each workout and encouraged with Brad’s exercises and personality. He makes you feel good about your workout, is reasonable with goals and works hard to help you achieve them. I have never been as consistent with getting in shape or as excited about a program as I am about Progressive Fitness....

I can't say enough good about Progressive Fitness. I -literally- limped into their facility one day to try to sell them a website and Brad told me he could help me with the lower back and hip pain I've been suffering with ever since I had a total knee replacement a few years ago. I'm still pretty young and was feeling like I was ready for a walker. Two weeks after starting to work with Brad and Jen I was as close to "pain free" as I have been in my entire life. The combination of strengthening and stretching that they have taught me has me stronger and more flexible and I will not be buying a walker any time soon! I whole-heartedly give my endorsement to Progressive Fitness.....

Like many people in their mid sixties, I have had my share of surgeries and musculoskeletal complications. I have always been a heavy exerciser, and taught martial arts for over 16 years. I underwent knee surgery, a shoulder replacement, and major spine surgery. My back surgeon indicated that if I had not kept up with my exercise program, I wouldn’t be walking today.

As time progressed especially over the last two years, my pain from these surgeries as well as spinal degeneration became chronic. The time I spent at the gym, or on an ice pack, were my only times of relative freedom from pain. It was during this time that I really came to know Jennifer Opaka. Jennifer has always been extremely kind and supportive for the years that I have known her. I knew she taught Yoga classes, and she encouraged me to try a class. For many months I thought I was too stiff, physically compromised, and too much in pain to attempt Yoga. A couple of months ago, I spoke to one of Jennifer’s students, Danielle, who had been in a car and motorcycle accident years before. Danielle informed me that Jennifer’s class had “saved her”. That was all it took for me to be at the next class.

I struggled through the next three Yoga classes with much encouragement from Jennifer. I have been around many fitness instructors in my time, but none like Jennifer. Her unique, gentle yet firm approach to Yoga is remarkable. I noted that she was always caring, compassionate, and understanding with all her students. After only three classes, I began to notice a change. A bit more flexibility and a reduction in shoulder and back pain! Downward Facing Dog became my new favorite pet. The physiological changes that I continue to note have been my motivation to maintain my 3 day per week Yoga class, and daily cardio and resistance training schedule. I look forward to Jennifer’s Yoga classes as I continue to improve.

Because of Jennifer Opaka’s professionalism, care for her students, and her encouragement, I have been able to find the drug free pain relief I have sought for so long. My deepest heartfelt thanks to Jennifer Opaka.

I have been working with Brad since February and he has exceeded every expectation I had. The group workouts he leads allow for each of us to work at our individual level and challenge ourselves to go beyond what we think we can do. Brad is totally involved in every class, every person -- watching and correcting postures, avoiding injury and building strength. I have never felt better -- and I am very grateful. Brad's nutritional guidance and gravity strength training are a winning combination. As long as Brad is teaching, I will be at Progressive Fitness.

When Jen expanded the Vault Yoga Studio Schedule, I increased my yoga practice to three days a week. In this short time, I have become noticeably stronger and more confident in my practice; my massage therapist commented on my new muscle definition. I started my practice the same year I became eligible for Medicare and Jen has expertly and gently guided my yoga journey. Start your journey today!

I used to hate exercising. I mean really hate it.  I tried all kinds of exercising: bought a gym membership, walked several miles a couple times each week, bought a stationary bike for home, bought yoga DVD's, all to sit covered in dust. Exercising made your muscles hurt, you got sweaty, & it took time away from relaxing at home; what was good about exercising?

Then when I entered my 30's, I started to feel stiff in various muscles, I couldn't make it up a flight of stairs without being out of breath, & I was diagnosed with diabetes. I wasn't that overweight but enough to be annoying. I had resigned myself to living a life like this until I met Brad, one of the trainers & owners at Progressive Fitness.

He said the one thing that I needed to hear to push me to exercise. He said their system focuses on flexibility & range of movement. Flexibility was on my mind more & more because I was concerned about getting old & needing a walker or scooter to get around. I didn't want my lack of activity to affect my ability to do simple things like walking when I got older.

Another thing Brad said was "No Excuses"; the smaller class size meant more attention would be paid to me & he would be able to hold me accountable better so I wouldn't use the traditional excuses to skip a class. I needed this tough love, this personalized attention that you can't find at a larger gym.

Now I attend the group training sessions 3 times a week & I truly love it! I feel better about myself both now that I'm doing something to improve my health & in the future because I know the "pain" now will pay off when I'm older. I'm healthier, better able to control my diabetes, & have seen results in muscle tone and strength in just 2 months! I enjoy the trainers's personalities & enjoy that the sessions mix up the types of exercises so I'm not bored with just one type of exercise.

If you're hesitant about joining Progressive Fitness, don't be...this is the system where you'll actually enjoy working out!
